ALITALIA WINS THE BEST AIRLINE CUISINE
FOR THE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE TIME THE QUALITY OF OUR COMPANY'S IN-FLIGHT MENUS HAS BEEN A WINNER
The American monthly Global Traveler, which has been promoting surveys on excellence in tourism for nine years, has awarded Alitalia the prize for "Best Airline Cuisine" for the quality of its in-flight meals. The prize, awarded by over 28,000 frequent flyers who took part in the magazine's "GT Tested Reader Survey Awards 2013", rewards the flag carrier for the revival of its in-flight service.
The menus offered in Magnifica class are inspired by regional traditions and are put together in collaboration with ALMA , the international school of Italian cuisine run by Gualtiero Marchesi, and are accompanied by wines selected in collaboration with the Italian Sommelier Association . From December 1, on flights in Magnifica class, passengers can taste the menus from the "Great Masters of Alma", which will rotate quarterly until October 2014. Thanks to the collaboration of over 60 great chefs, Alma has put together the esteemed "Contemporary Italian Cuisine" project to offer the flavors of our country, which are loved throughout the world and given a new twist by today's top chefs, on Alitalia flights.
The graphics on the menus are also new, bearing the signatures and stylized photos of the chefs who designed the recipes for the quarter:
- PIER GIORGIO PARINI
- MAURO ULIASSI
- MARIASOLE CAPODANNO
- MARIA CICORELLA
- ANTONIA KLUGMAN
- ALESSANDRO GAVAGNA
- ENRICO e ROBERTO CEREA
- HERBERT HINTNER
This prize comes on top of the Best In-Flight Wine Program , which Alitalia won in October 2013. At the Saveur Culinary Travel Awards 2013, the company was recognized for seeking out and highlighting local Italian wines and for the best qualitative distribution of wines in combination with the food served on board. Saveur is an American tourism and food and wine magazine, a global leader in the sector, which for years has sought out culinary excellence in the travel and tourism industry, tracking down the sector leaders throughout the world. Also this year, the Istituto Tedesco di Qualità e Finanza (ITQF—German quality and finance institute) recognized Alitalia as "the best airline company for its customer service", awarding it the gold medal for the high satisfaction rating achieved, 82.6%.
